I've been away from my blog for the last 3 months! It's been quite a long time- I can now update you as to why I've been away so long.... I've just been too tired because:

We're expecting!

This is from our 2nd ultrasound done a few weeks ago- 12 weeks.

Already baby is camera shy.... didn't want thier picture taken!

The first little while really knocked me on my butt- but now that I'm further along I'm starting to feel better- I should have some more posts in the near future as I've finally gotten some of my cardmaking mojo back! Thank goodness for the 2nd trimester... :-)

Birthday Party Favours

I made these cute little favours for my birthday party in early November. They were filled with halloween candy- which is nice having a birthday right after halloween... :-)
The box is made using the milk carton die (cutting 2 with only 3 sides on them and putting them together) I learned this at Angela McKay's technique club! They make cute little boxes and are so easy!

Sparkly New Years Card

This card is made with the Northern Hearts stamp set and the teeny tiny wishes "Happy New year" sentiment. You can't see it very well, but I've used the shimmer mist (mixing the champagne shimmer paint with rubbing alchol in a spritz bottle) on the card. It has a nice sparkly shimmer to it! The colours are Early Esspresso, Crumb Cake and Soft Suede. I've used the Gold specialty paper as well.

Versamark Resist Christmas Card

This Card is made using the versamark resist technique- where you stamp your glossy cardstock with Versamark and then either sponge or brayer ink on top. The versamark resists the ink and your stamped image stays white! It's very cool. I made this card in 2 colours. Pear Pizzaz and also in Cherry Cobbler.

Here's the Cherry Cobbler version. The flowers turned out a little pink for my liking- but this is my first time with this technique! I'm totally in love with the Merry Christmas sentiment from the Petite Pairs stamp set!

Stampin' Royalty Challenge #90

Hi! I thought I would try my hand at a Stampin' Royalty challenge this week. I needed some inspiration for cardmaking and sketches really do the trick! Here's the sketch:

You can't see the little bear in the crib very well, but he is stamped in Pool Party- the other colours are Island Indigo, Lucky Limeade, Calypso Coral and Wisteria Wonder (this year's in colours)
I really love the in colour ribbon! It is so pretty- and also the in colour brads are great!

Stained Glass Angel for My Mom.

This one is for my mom- it's an angel made with 3 glass pieces and a glass nugget and some wire.

I'm really happy with how this turned out! Here is a view from the bottom to show the arms and halo:

More Stained Glass

This time I've got some Necklace pendants to show you!
Both of these pendants are for sale if you are interested in them- $15.00 each, they come with either black or white hemp cord to hang or plain- you choose!

This first one is lime green glass with Turqoise glass and is around 1.5" wide.

This second one is amber glass (triangle shaped) with a square of Orange glass. A small heart is soldered to the front. This piece measures just over 1".

Something Completely different yet again!

I was just recently at a youth camp in the Okanagan as a leader and one of the activities the youth were able to choose was "Stained Glass". As a leader I had an opportunity to create some pieces as well- and now I am completely hooked! Here are some of my latest creations now that I have all the equipment to solder glass!

This is a paw made from glass nuggets from Michaels and the dollar store. Too cute!

And this is suuposed to be a frog... also made from Glass nuggets and some wire I had lying around for beading.

My Aunt just recently came to visit and to cut down on postage we send gifts back with her. I couln't wait for her to open her Birthday present so I made her open it 2 weeks early! Here are the earrings I made her:

The pearlish ones are made to be a little more dressy and the brown ones are made using a type of bead made from hulled cocoa shells!

This card was made with inspiration from a card by BadaBing Paper Crafting. I thought it was too cute and wanted to give it a try myself! I changed up the colours and used rhinestons in the middle of the flowers. The colours are Cherry Cobler, Marina Mist, Daffodil Delight and Early Espresso. The stamp sets are Delicate Doilies and Curly Cute.

While my mom was away at the Stampin' Up! Convention I got to borrow some of her stamp sets! Here's a card I made using the Cute by the inch stamp set. The DSP is retired and is So Saffron, the other colours are Rose Red and Marina Mist. Sorry for the poor quality of picture! I've been having issues with my camera and lighting! The sentiment is from the set curly cute. There are little rhinestones in the middle of each square.

New Craft Space!

Steve and I decided to switch our hobby areas because I've been getting more and more craft supplies and didn't have enough space to keep up with it all! I'm now up in the stairwell on the landing- quite a nice little spot actually!

I love all the space I have now! I'm still working on getting everything set up- but now I can leave things out and go back to them whenever I get a chance!

The template for this card box is available on Ilina Crouse's webpage "My Creations". I've pulled out my old retired colours to make a few boxes and card sets to give as gifts. I really love this little box! I'm addicted to making these!

Because I care Thank-you Card

This card is made using the top note die and the Hydrangea from the Because I Care stamp set. The hydrangea is coloured in using Pale Plum, Perfect Plum and a little Daffodil Delight.

The leaves are coloured using Old Olive, Certainley Celery and Always Artichoke. The trick to colouring them is to start with the lightest colour and then build the colour from there following the lines of the stamp set. Stamp in Stazon to start and then colour in using Stampin' Write markers.

This weekend was so much fun! Mom and I attended the all day Stampin' Up! Regional on Saturday! It was so much fun and very inspiring! The most exciting part was getting to meet Shelli Gardner- the founder and CEO of Stampin' Up! Here's the picture Mom and I got with her:

We had such a good time! There were tons of samples and the swaps were amazing! The make and takes were also really great! Here is one of the make and takes we got to make (this one is the sample, as I haven't yet finished mine...)

It's a really cute little banner than you can hang up using the Petal cone die out of the Occasions mini!
All in all it was a pretty amazing day! Now to just find some time to get some stamping done!

Baby Shower Flip Book

A friend of mine just recently had a beautiful baby girl. I created this flip book for her using the Nursery Suite quick accents (118709- $10.95). It was so quick and easy! The colours of the album are Baja Breeze, So Saffron, Pretty in Pink and Pink Pirouette. Here are some pictures:

Big Shot Rag Purse!

I have been dying to try my hand at making one of the rag purses made using the scallop square die by Stampin' Up! I'm in love with the design and how simple they are to make- I'm pretty sure I'll be making more in the near future! I trotted off to Wal-mart to get some fabric-as it was quite late and my fav fabric store was not open... it took 3 fat quarters and some leftover fleece I had in my stash from when I worked at said fabric store! Here is what mine turned out like:

I really love the colours- and am more impressed by the fact that the button was a perfect match! It is Pear Pizzaz from the new mini!
I don't recommend using the slinky fleece that I used for the inside- as it tends to frey and shed everywhere! I'm still picking up little black specks! But the bonus of this pattern is that you can turn it inside out and it is reversible! I also added in a few touches of my own- which included two pouches on the inside to separate the purse into 3 sections. When the purse is reversed (shown below) the pouches act as pockets on the outside of the purse.

I pleated the little pocket to make sure it held it's shape on the inside and to make sure nothing falls out of it. Next time I think if I added a little elastic to it that would work much better.
There are some good tutorials on youtube for this purse- just search "stampin' up rag quilt purse".
I think I'll try my hand at a quilt next! I still have lots of fabric in my stash to use up!
(another trick- if you have some fleece lying around, you can use that instead of quilt batting- it works almost as well, it's just not quite as stiff)

Here is the card I made for my mom's birthday. I used the Birthday Bakery set (level 1 hostess) and all retired products for the card- thought it would be good to use some up! I'm very happy with how it turned out!

Sympathy Card

It's never a happy occasion to create such a card, but it is best to have a few on hand just in case. Here is a nice card to show you care:

I love the combination of Marina Mist and Bashful Blue. The hydrangea is coloured mostly with bashful blue, then marina mist and a hint of perfect plum in the middle of some of the flowers. The leaves are coloured in certainely celery and wild wasabi. All in all, a very simple card to make.

Simple Christmas Card

Here is another quick and easy Christmas card using a stamp set that wouldn't normally lend itself to Christmas cards.

The mistletoe is the watercolour joy stamp upside down- I saw this done on someone else's blog- but now I can't find the link again! The background is Crumbcake and the image is from the Contempo Christmas set. The season's greeting saying is from the set "Four the Holidays".

Penguin Christmas Card

I've seen a few versions of these penguins floating around and decided to try making a few- they were quite a hit at our card sale in November!
Here it is:

Isn't he cute! I tried adding a few highlights with the white signlo pen, but I'm not sure I like the beak ones... Here is another one with a different coloured ornament.

He's pretty cute too! They were really easy to mass produce. The background is stamped with the Northern Flurries set from the occasions Mini (Sales period ends Jan 3) on Bashful Blue. The penguin is die cut with the Top note die and the wings are made with the Large Oval punch. Feet are the scallop circle punch cut into 3 scallop sections- eyes are the 1/2" circle and the beak is the small oval cut in half.

I used the set Bells and Boughs stamped in Cherry Cobbler and used a blender pen to blend the colour into the pointsettias. There is a little gold glitter in the middle of some of the flowers. I used an Old Olive marker for the pine needles and to finish it off- tied on the Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding ribbon.

Missing in action!

I've been MIA over the last month and haven't gotten around to posting anything! I'm slowly getting back on track and hope to have more posts coming in the next little while.
I would like to share the reasons I've been out of commission for the last little while. Steve and I found out on September 18th that I was pregnant and while we were very excited I was also very tired and wasn't feeling up to doing many of the things that I've enjoyed in the past. I had been waiting until our first ultrasound to share the news, however the news wasn't so joyful at that first ultrasound. The baby had never grown after 6 weeks and we just had an empty sac with nothing inside. This was very dissapointing news for us, however we are making the best of the situation and getting by. Today I decided to make a scrapbook page using MDS to put into words some of what I have been feeling. The title is named after the book "What to expect when you're expecting". I had seen a friend's blog who had made a page she titled "what to expect when your NOT expecting" as she had fertility issues and decided to change it up a little. So going with that here is the page I created:

It was a difficult page to make, but I'm happy with the results. I'm reminded everyday of how fortunate we are to live where we do and have access to the medical treatment and health care that others are so in need of.

I hope to be back on track within the next week with some new posts and even a few classes of Christmas cards! Stay tuned!

Stampin Royalty Challenge #34

This week's challenge is Monochromatic! I have a baby shower to go to this week so I decided to make some thank-you cards to bundle together for my friend. She just had a baby girl, so purple was the theme....

The stamp is a wheel called "baby tees" and the thank-you is from the Sweet Sentiments set. I used perfect plum, whisper white and pale plum as the colours (*pale plum is retired... sigh!) I hope she likes them!
I bundled 12 of them together using a belly band:

I had a few spare moments today and thought I would head on over to Hand Stamped Sentiments to see what kind of challenge they had going on this week. It's a sketch challenge- I really like those! I opened up My Digital Studio and gave it a go! Here is my card:

I really love this new colour- it's called Concord Crush and it's one of the in-colours this year! I paired it up with perfect plum. The colours seemed to go together well when on a white background. I love being able to create perfect matting behind each "punched" piece.

Stampin' Royalty Challenge #30

This week's Stampin' Royalty Challenge is a KISS challenge. While my mom was away I got to borrow a few stampsets from her! I borrowed the Baroque Motifs stamp set to make this card.

The colours are So Saffron and Cherry Cobbler. I'm really happy with how this turned out!
I loved it so much that I made a few more in different colours:

This one is made in Chocolate chip and Crumb Cake. And I made one more card using the other stamps in the set.

I liked how this one turned out too!
I'll be taking a little break from my DT duties, as we have just gotten a puppy and are in the middle of training! Here is a picture of our newest addition:

Baroque Motifs Card

I've been pretty swamped with work this week, and as much as I want to sit down and stamp- I just haven't had the time! I love to use MDS and today was no exception! Here is the card I created using the Baroque Motifs stamp set.

I really like this stamp set and these two new colours! This is Marina Mist and Early Espresso. What a beautiful colour combo! I'd like to give this card a try in real stamping once I get the time!

Sock Monkey Birthday Card!

It's so hard to make masculine cards! I needed a birthday card for a friend of ours and I wasn't too sure where to begin! My mom lent me her sock monkey stamp sets while she is away on her vacation and I thought they would make a cute card. I stamped and cut out all the accessories, coloured in the monkey and stamped the border of presents along the bottom. 2 of the balloons are up on dimensionals, as is the monkeys' hat.

Stampin Royalty challenge #28

This week's Stampin Royalty Challenge is to use your stencils! I happen to love my Baroque stencil and decided to use that. Here is my card:

I started off applying a little dotto to my stencil to make it stick and not shift. Then brought out my crumb cake ink and stampin sponges. I sponged on the crumb cake ink and made it as dark as I was looking for. I then shifted my stencil just a smidge and re-stuck it down again. This time I pulled out the Soft Suede ink and sponged that over the stencil, next again in the middle I sponged on some Early Expresso. I cut a small slit into the crumb cake paper and tied the soft suede ribbon around the front. This week's Stampin' Royalty challenge is a sketch challenge. Here is the sketch!

I thought this would lend itself really nicely to a scrapbook page. My husband and I were recently in the okanagan visiting family and we took some pictures with my cousin. I pulled most of the colours from the sweater that I was wearing.

I really like how this turned out! It is such a great picture! The bermuda ribbon is from the new ribbon download for MDS- I think it adds so much to the page! I'm really falling in love with MDS- as you can probably tell!

Hand Stamped Sentiments #23

I have had the awesome opportunity to be a guest designer for a Hand Stamped Sentiments challenge! The Design team has some really awesome challenges- this week's is a colour challenge. The colours are Crumb Cake (formerly Kraft), Rose Red, Chocolate chip, Old olive and Whisper White. I had a fun time with this challenge! Here is my card:

I braided the chocolate chip, rose red and old olive ribbons together to make the braid on the front of the card. The background image is from Watercolor Joy and the flowers are from Vintage Vogue. Birthday wishes is from the Level 3 hostess set in the new catalogue- it has some great sentiments! I hope you hop over to their site and play along- these are such pretty colours!

Stampin Royalty Challenge #26

This week's challenge is a Theme challenge- "seeing doubles". This could be a reflection image, two of one item on a card or a duplicate image in a scrapbook layout- the possibilities are endless!
I decided to go with a reflection image.
I sunburnt myself quite bad this past weekend and have not felt like stamping- so out came my computer and MDS again! Here's my card:

I did this in two steps, first I started with a 4x6 landscape card layout and used the upsy daisy stamp set. the original looked like this:

The upsy daisy stamp was done in Rose Red and used the upsy daisy stamp. I then copy and pasted it, then mirrored the image and reduced the opacity to create a reflection. The grass is made from the torn edges stamp set and I reduced the size to match the layer that I was looking for. I made a few different layers using different colours and varying opacity levels to create the grass and water reflection. The green line was made using a square punch and distorting it to be a line and adding old olive as a colour fill. The background is Bashful blue and the bottom layer is brocade blue with a reduced opacity so that it wasn't so dark.
I then opened up another project after selecting share project and exporting the other project to JPEG.
I played with colours and went into the photo effects part of the image editing and selected Sepia. I really liked the look so I made the background in Chocolate chip and whisper white. The sentiment is also from Upsy daisy and is in Chocolate chip.
I hope that wasn't too complicated an explanation! It's amazing what this program can do!

MDS Extreme Birthday!

I've been really busy with work this week, and decided to make a quick card with MDS to relax tonight!
I played with the stamp set Extreme Elements, I really like the way this set looks. Here's the card:

I decided to play with colours, and I really like this combo: Night of Navy, So Saffron and Rich Razzleberry. The sentiment is from the Upsy Daisy set. If your on the fence about purchasing a digital scrapbooking program like My Digital Studio I really recommend this program. This card only took me 10 minutes! You can have your project proffessionally printed through Stampin' Up! or print it from your home printer- it's really easy!

The stamp is from the new level 1 hostess set "Because I Care" in the new 2010/2011 Idea book and Catalogue! I stamped the hydrangea with black Stazon and then coloured in the image with my lavender lace and pink passion markers. I really love this stamp set!

HSS Sketch Challenge

I've been meaning to do a challenge over at Hand Stamped Sentiments for quite some time now and finally had a chance to get it done before the challenge is up! This week they have a sketch challenge over there and I love a sketch because it is so helpful in getting the design for the card rolling in my head! Here's the sketch:

I love all the circles and started looking for stamp sets that had circles. My mom and I were together and she beat me to the circle circus set.... So I decided to get a little patriotic seeing as Canada Day is coming up and use the Canada Day set from the summer mini! Here's my take on the sketch:

I made the background using the maple leaf stamp and stamping off. I really like the effect! I popped up two of the circles to give it a little dimension and added a few brads to make it pop.

Stampin Royalty Challenge #24- Masculine Theme!

This weeks Stampin Royalty challenge is a masculine theme! Here is what I came up with:

It's graduation season this time of year and these happen to be the colours of the highschool nearby. The layout is based on a card by Lisa young, I switched up the colours and moved a few things around and voila!
I really do love the lattice embossing folder. The grad cap is made mostly by hand- just cutting out the pieces. I'm trying to use up more of the retiring paper that I have- and Summer Sun is on that list!

This week I was asked to create digital thank-you cards for the staff at work. I asked my boss if she would let me do it from home and use My Digital Studio! She said yes!
Here is what I came up with:

I used the Flicka logo on the front and picked the colours from there. The stamp set in the background is from the set Friends 24-7 (my favorite set!) The opacity was reduced to 10% which lets it look like a watermark. I sure hope everyone likes theirs!

Here is the card that I came up with:

I used the new hostess set from the summer mini called Punched Posies (Love it!) and the 5 petal flower punch to punch out some leaves to go with the flowers. The colours are Rose Red, Pumpkin pie and Certainly Celery. The birthday sentiment is from the set Teeny Tiny wishes. I popped the flowers up on dimensionals to give it that extra dimension! I took my inspiration partially from the colours in the picture but also from the stamp sets. I hope you join us this week!

Stampin Royalty Challenge #22- Jazz it up!

This week's Stampin' Royalty Challenge is to jazz up an old project. I had made a card when the in colours came out in 2009 that I never finished fully. I decided to pull this card out to Jazz it up for the challenge!

This was the original card. I pulled out my soft suede ribbon and my blender pens to give this card a new lease on life. Here is the new card:

I used my blender pens to shade in the branch and the bird using crushed curry, dusty durango and soft suede. The stamps are from the Friends 24-7 set- which is one of my favorite stamp sets!

Stampin Royalty Challenge #21- Colour Challenge!

This week's Stampin' Royalty Challenge is a colour challenge- Pretty in Pink, Rich Razzleberry and Certainly Celery. I'm quite late this week, as we just got home Wednesday night from our road trip to Saskatchewan for my Grandma's wedding (which was great!) I decided to make this card using MDS as I haven't opened my craft cabinet yet.

Stampin Royalty Challenge #20- Sketch Challenge!

This week's Stampin' Royalty Challenge is a Sketch Challenge! I have been working on a scrapbook album for my Grandma. She is getting married this Saturday (yup, you heard me right- married!) so my mom and I have been putting together an album that she can put her pictures into. I figured I'd try making a page that matched the sketch for this week and kill two birds with one stone. (*sorry birdies*)
Here's this week's sketch:

I decided to make it a little wider seeing as I'm working on a 12 x 12 album. Here is my take on the sketch:

The background paper is from the Cottage Wall DSP series, the colours are Old Olive, Barely banana, so saffron and whisper white. The flowers are punched out of so saffron with the extra large fancy flower punch and then scrunched up and folded a little to create some texture- then little leaves are glued behind them using the 5/8" grosgrain ribbon in old olive. The middle piece is die cut using the top note die, and then rotating it 90 degrees and sending it back through the big shot. I really love how this page turned out! I'll be sure to post some pictures of my Grandma with her album when we get back from the wedding! I'll be trying to keep up with the challenge this weekend, but we'll be in Saskatchewan so I can't make any promises! Stampin Royalty Challenge #19- Theme Challenge- Family!

This week's Stampin Royalty challenge is a theme challenge- create a card, scrapbook page or 3d item based on the theme of Family. I decided to do an MDS scrapbook page for my mom seeing as Sunday was mother's day.

The background paper is from the Night and Day DSP download and the flowers are from the For All You Do stamp brush set. The bottom left photo is of my mom and me just after I was born, and the top left is a family portrait done of my mom, my sister and I.(I love how we all match!) The bottom right photo was taken at my wedding and the top right was from last year and is one of my favorite photos that we have! (course, it could be that I show up as being a little taller... or that we look so much alike!) I'm really happy with how the page turned out, I think I'll have to get this one printed to put into an album. I'm also going to share the card I made my mom for mother's day. Seeing as sage shadow is retiring along with handsome hunter, I thought I would start using up my supplies of both- and I love how they look together! Here is her card:

The flowers are from the vintage vogue stamp set and I used the 5 petal flower punch for the leaves. I also took out my Stampin' Pastels to add a little extra colour on the inside of the flowers (don't know if you can see that or not!) The sentiments are from Well Scripted and Picture This (both from the occasions mini) The background is the baroque stamp from the set Friends 24-7 (one of my favorite stamps!)

She loved the card and her mother's day gift- which was a tote for all her scrapbooking/cardmaking stuff. I'm so glad!

Stampin Royalty Challenge #18- Anything but a card

This week's Stampin' Royalty Challenge is anything but a card. This week I decided to try something a little different. I decorated a tin can with some cottage wall DSP and then used Rich Razzleberry ribbon to finish off the edges.

I stamped the flowers from Vintage vogue in Rich Razzleberry then cut them out. The leaves are made from Always Artichoke and punched out with the 5 petal flower punch and then ran them through the crimper. Ballet cards for my boss!

Stampin Royalty Challenge #17- punches!

This week's Stampin' Royalty challenge is to get out your punches! I absolutely love punch art, and have been totally inspired by Ellen Kemper, she does amazing punch art! I've been trying to get my wedding album started and have finally finished the first page. It's a start! I decided to make a punch art version of me and my husband for the first page, here we are:

I used the inspiration from Ellen's Pointy chin people to make both people and then just kind of created from there! I wanted the bride to look as much like me as possible and for the dress to be as close as I could get it- I'm quite happy with the results! Here is the whole page:

The page is unfortunately not completely SU, as I purchased much of my papers before I learned about SU and became a demo, I don't like to waste paper- so I'm using it up!

I sure hope I can keep this momentum and start getting the rest of the album done, or at least started!

What a weekend!

This weekend was the annual North Shore Invitational Gymnastics meet- which is the biggest event of the year for Flicka Gymnastics club where I work. I had the opportunity to set up a table and sell cards at the event- which was great! Here are some pictures of the table and my display.

Most of the products used are Stampin' Up! Though the gymnastics stamps are from a different company. It was so hard to find anything gymnastics related! I've been trying to go through all my retired DSP from last year, and this is such a great way to do that! I found a dish drying rack from Ikea to display the cards on- and have it propped up on two tin cans that I decorated with DSP.

It was a good weekend, but incredibly long! The competition started at 8:30am Saturday and went until 9:30pm that night and then restarted again yesterday at 9:00am and went until 2:00pm!

I really love the dish racks- they work perfectly! And only $5.00 too! I also picked up some clear napkin holders and those worked pretty well for display too.

Stampin' Royalty Challenge #16- Sketch Challenge

This week's Stampin' Royalty Challenge is a Sketch Challenge! Our fabulous sketch designer Sandra Farrell has designed yet another great sketch for us! Here is my take on the sketch:

I used the top note die in chocolate chip and in whisper white, and cut around the edges of the whisper white to the score marks. Then sponged the edges with chocolate chip. The background is close to cocoa and stamped with a stamp from the Vintage Vogue set. I stamped one big flower and two little flowers in Rose Red and cut them out, and stamped the leaves in Old Olive. I love the matching ribbon! The happy birthday is from the Well Scripted stamp set.

Stampin' Royalty Challenge #15!

This week's Stampin' Royalty Challenge is a KISS challenge (Keep it simple, Sweetie). This week's challenge was difficult for me, I tend to over do the simplicity!

This card was made using 3 pieces of DSP from the welcome neighbour stack. It took only 5 minutes to make! The olive was cut to form hills and adhered to the cloud paper, then I cut out the house out of another sheet, added a few trees and voila! The tag is punched using the tiny tag punch and the tiny tag stamp set.

I'm glad that Baja Breeze is coming back as a colour in the new colour renovation! This card is made using Chocolate Chip, Baja Breeze and Barely Banana... unfortunately barely banana is not making it through the renovation (so sad!) I love the butterfly embosslit and how it goes together with the butterfly stamp! I've layered them on top of each other.

Stampin Royalty Challenge #13

This week's Stampin' Royalty Challenge is an Easter Theme! I found a great card made by Kerin Sylvester that used the daffodil stamp from the Abundant Hope stamp set. I really loved the way her card looked so I decided to case it! Here is my take on it:

The flowers are stamped using Black Stazon and masked to let them overlap. I coloured them in using my stampin markers each shade progressively darker than the last which added the depth. The base of the flowers is Barely Banana then So Saffron, Crushed Curry, Summer Sun, Apricot Appeal and then a touch of Pumpkin pie. The leaves are Certainly Celery, Old Olive and the darker shading is Always Artichoke. I love how it turned out!

Stampin Royalty Challenge #12!

This week's Stampin' Royalty Challenge is to "get glittler happy"! So out came the glitter and the heat and stick powder- of course by the end of the night I ended up wearing more glitter than the card it seems... :-)

To make the flowers I used a square piece of whisper white and stamped it with Versamark ink, then applied heat and stick powder. I heated up the heat and stick powder and then applied the glitter (what a mess!) after heat setting the glitter once again I pulled out the big flower from the Fifth avenue floral stampset, inked it up in whisper white craft ink, stamped over the glitter and embossed it in white embossing powder. Then you simply cut out the flower and Voila! The little leaves are the wings from the 2-step bird punch. I hope you play along with us this week and get out your glitter!

This week's Stampin' Royalty Challenge is a sketch challenge! I really love being able to use a sketch- it helps the creativity flow! Here is my card for this week's challenge.

I used the medallion stamp in chocolate chip on a kraft background. Then stamped the two flowers from the vintage vogue set using Bermuda Bay and Rich Razzleberry. I was very happy to see that they fit into the circle punches! The large flower fits into the 1 3/4" circle punch! and the little flower fits into the 1" circle punch! I stamped the sentiment from Teeny tiny wishes on the bottom right hand corner, and this card will go to a good friend who was in the hospital last week. I hope she likes it! This card was made for my mom, who is not a big fan of squirrels... (they tend to be very destructive to her garden!) more of a joke card for her- but very cute! The squirrel is modelled after Corie's punch art fox. the head is made with the ornament punch, the body with the large oval and wide oval punches. Ears are made using the five petal flower punch. I'm definately hooked on punches!

Stampin' Royalty Challenge #9!

This week's Stampin' Royalty Challenge is a picture perfect inspiration challenge. The picture above is the picture for the challenge- I don't know about you, but all I can see when I look at this picture is the grass in the little pots!

So this is my card for this challenge:

I used the "Inspired by Nature" stamp set for the grass, and the bowl is made using the circle cutter on Dusty Durango cardstock that was stamped tone on tone with the "Sanded" background stamp. I asked my upline Angela what the card needed and it was her suggestion to add the little punched flowers. The flowers are made by punching Crushed Curry cardstock with the Boho Blossoms punch and then punch the card stock with the Trio flower punch. Scrunch up the flowers and then glue them together using crystal effects.

Flower birthday card

This was a card inspired by Corrie's puffy flowers. I used the retired DSP patterns pack that was a hostess set in the last catalogue, and the sale-a-bration ribbon from last year too. Here is another version in the apricot colours:

I had a fun time making these flowers and I'm sure I'll be making many more cards like this soon!

Itty Bitty Box welcome home!

My upline Angela Mckay had the little vellum box (sans decorations) sitting on her shelf with a few buddies- I picked it up because I thought it was cute- she said "decorate it" and so I did! I used the sale-a-bration set Good Neighbours to stamp this cute little house in Not quite navy and dusty durango- the ribbon is dusty durango too. It would make a cute little housewarming gift!

Stampin' Royalty Challenge #8!

This week's Stampin' Royalty challenge is a colour challenge! And for me this was a really hard challenge- I'm not one for bright colours, and this combination was one of those that had me stumped for quite a while!

Here's what I came up with:

I used the sweet somethings stamp set, and the used circles for the background. I also used the sweet treat cups and filled them with some little hair clips that I found that matched the colours! Should make a nice card for a little girl. Here's a view of the inside:

I used a piece of window sheet as the slider to keep the treats in the sweet treat cup, and a little ribbon to pull it up with. This allows you to see the gumballs on the inside of the card too!

Stampin' Royalty Challenge #7

This weeks Stampin' Royalty Challenge is a masculine card. I made this rendition of my husband Steve, and decided to mount it to a card for him. He wants to laminate it and put it up at work. He works for Rona as a truck driver and is always in his high visible vest. He laughed out loud when he saw the little punch version of himself! I used all Stampin' Up punches. This is another punch art person made from the inspiration of Ellen Kemper. I used the sanded background stamp to give a rough feel to the background and the ticket corner punch to make the chocolate chip look like a frame. Thanks for stopping by! Happy Valentine's Day!

I know I'm a day late! My hubby and I spent the day yesterday watching the Olympics and then went out for a nice drive and had a nice dinner out! I'll sneak this in here too *Go Canada Go!!!!*

This weeks Stampin Royalty challenge is to create a Valentine's card! In response to some of the comments we've received, we decided that the entire design team would use the same stamp set to create their cards, to show the versatility of SU's stamps. We all used the "I {heart} hearts" set (every purchase of this set donates $2 to Haitian relief) for our cards. I used some of the DSP from the "good neighbours" 6 x 6 DSP pack. Stampin' Royalty Challenge #5!

This weeks Stampin' Royalty challenge is "Anything but a card"! I was cleaning up around the house when I found this plaque that I've had for over 2 years and never done anything with! I decided to try and make a little sign for my craft area (I have an armoire in the living room, so now it has a sign!) I was inspired by Ellen Kemper's UPS delivery guy and her pointy chin people and decided to try and create a punch art mini me! It's pretty close!

I also used some inspiration from Lynn Pratt's Lady stamper (the hands and the shirt)

The background paper is from the Bella Bleu DSP pack, I used the "Lovely letters" stamp set to stamp the words, punched them out using the 1 1/4" circle and used the 1 3/8" Circle to punch out the background circle from Not Quite Navy cardstock. Mini Sarah was made using the Ornament punch *sniff, retired, sniff*, the wide oval, large oval, small oval, heart to heart, modern label and a 1/4" circle punch. I also decided to give her a nice little Stampin' Up box that could be filled with all sorts of goodies! I think now my husband will be wanting a mini him.... we'll see how that goes!

My mom just made a comment that she needs a pair of glasses, like me! So, I took out my wire and pliers to give her a pair of glasses, here's what she looks like now!

Just a little more like a mini me!

I was just the recent winnner of some blog candy! I received this great package in the mail from Gardenia Pepworth from Australia, (you can see her blog here). The timing could not have been better. Earlier that day we had to make the decision to put our hamster down, we've had her for 2 years and she has been a real blessing to our little family of 2 (my husband and I). The package was sitting in the mailbox just as we were coming back from putting her down, and inside was all this! Thanks Gardenia! You made my day!

Stampin' Royalty Challenge #4!

This week's Stampin' Royalty Challenge is a sketch! Our sketch designer Sandra Farrell has come up with some great sketches to play along with, and this is our first! Here is my interpretation of the sketch:

I used the simply said stampset and the well scripted set to make this card.

I thought I would make a Valentine's day card, so I pulled out my Real Red, Pretty in Pink and Chocolate chip. I like the way the colours look together. The hearts were stamped with Pretty in Pink and then the other stamp in Real Red stamped on top. This required the very useful Stamp-a-ma-jig! What would I do without it! :-)

I'm really loving the new Well Scripted set, there are so many nice sayings and covers quite a few occasions!

Bird Punch Vintage Vogue Card

I created this card on Friday while at a crop night with friends. I love the vintage vogue stamp set! The oval stamp is from the Sale-a-bration set Vintage labels and you can get it for free with a purchase of $65!!!! I love free stuff! I embossed the background with the polka dot folder, and cut out the flowers from the vintage vogue stamp set. The Bird is made from the bird on a branch punch, and the oval was cut using the oval scallop bigz die.

SR Challenge #3!

This week's Stampin' Royalty Challenge is to create a single layer card. I used the forest friends set (which is available as a sale-a-bration reward!!!!) the trendy trees set and the new Well Scripted set from the occasions mini. (I really love this set!)

I started by stamping the leaves with Garden Green on the bottom of the card and then stamping them again to get a lighter shade before picking up more ink. I don' have any nice tree stamps that are large so I had to free hand the tree using the Stampin' Markers (Chocolate Chip)

I then inked up the deer using Really rust and sponged on a little chocolate chip around the edges to give him more highlights and stamped him into the middle, the owl was next, I stamped one onto my cardstock and another on to a post-it note in order to create a mask. I then placed the mask down and stamped the leaves for the tree in old olive using the same technique as the grass. Then using my sponge daubers I sponged in some bashful blue to the sky, and inked up the words Congratulations in Chocolate chip and stamped them.

Last but not least add in a few tree branches and Voila! A card created with only one layer!!! I thought this would make a cute baby card?
